High Resolution Scanning / Image Capture
One of the most
important elements of high resolution reproduction, especially
in fine art giclee reproduction, is accurately capturing the
image in a digital file.
Direct Scanning - Scan-Back Capture:
Using one of the absolute best cameras on the market, the Hasselblad H2D with an 88 Megapixel
digital scan-back, we scan your
image using 1 to 16 passes to create an incredibly accurate digital file of your work.
The scan-back allows us to directly capture the image
produced by the camera - making sure every single brush stoke and mid-tone color is present in the reproduction. We are able to capture high
resolution images up to 512 Mb in size using this technique with remarkable depth and detail.
Scan-back captures are very effective for fine art work
reproduction, giclee reproduction, sculptures, and other three
dimensional product shots (such as for food photography shots)
if you are able to bring or ship your work or products to our office in
Rockville, MD.
Film or Transparency Scanning:
If you already have your image captured on film or on a
transparency, we can create a digital image using our
professional quality drum scanner.
Professional Imaging
Our staff of
talented designers uses the latest software applications for
MACs and PCs for editing, formatting, restoring, or touching up
your photos or images. Depending on what formats you work with and
your desired end-product, we will be using one of the following
software applications for your project:

High Resolution Printing Services
High Resolution Large Format Printers:
For high resolution photographic printing, we will print using our true
photographic printer, the Lightjet 5000. The Lightjet prints at the equivalent of 4000 dpi on photo paper (we mention equivalent because there is no ink used in printing and no dot pattern on the prints).
For art reproductions or high-end indoor displays, we use our 8-Color Epson 9800 Pro printers which can print up to 2880 dpi resolution on canvas, fine art paper, fabrics, and many other materials.
Our high-resolution outdoor and indoor displays can also be printed on our
solvent-based inkjet printers, the Mimaki JV3. These printers are ideal for large format graphics up to 8'W x 250'L and are extremely durable and weatherproof right off of the printer.

Printing Materials:
We have a wide selection of printing materials we can print on using the Lightjet, Epsons, or Mimakis. We will work with you to determine the
best choices for your desired effect and project. Below is
a partial list of the materials we can print on. If you
don't see what you are looking for, please call us to see if we
have it in stock or if we can print on it.
We can print on several different types of paper,
banner vinyl, adhesive-back vinyl, canvas, fine art paper, mesh, fabrics, and reflective materials in size up
to 96 inches wide by 250 feet long. The LightJet can print
on several different types of photographic paper, including
matte, glossy, Duratrans, Duraplex, Duraclear, Day/Night,
metallic, and several others.
